Reading the Protect column. “(24) HD / (14) 2K / (8) 4K” is one allowance spent three ways, not three allowances. Most cameras people want are 8MP. Read the 4K number and ignore the other two.
Reading the PoE column. “Not published” here means the gateway has no PoE budget row on its spec page. For the UDM-Pro, UDM-Pro-Max and UDM-Beast that is not a data gap — those gateways have no PoE at all.
Gateway-as-NVR does not mean “no switch needed.” The UDM-Pro and UDM-Pro-Max record cameras and power nothing. Every PoE endpoint still needs a PoE switch beside them. The UDM-SE (180W) is the only mainstream rack gateway with a real PoE budget of its own.
Five gateways publish a single fixed PoE budget: UDM-SE at 180W, UDR at 40W, UCG-Fiber at 30W, and UDR7 and UDR-5G-Max at 15.4W each. The 15.4W figure is exactly one PoE port at 802.3af class — it will run a G6 Turret (12.5W) and nothing else.
A sixth — the UCG-Industrial — publishes a conditional budget. See the conditional section below; it is not a single number.

The UCG-Industrial is the only gateway with PoE+++ ports — 2 × 2.5 GbE PoE+++, 1 × 10 GbE PoE+++, published at PoE+: 30W; PoE+++: 90W per port. It is also fanless (ruggedized), rated −30 to 50 °C, and carries a pre-installed 128 GB microSD for NVR with a microSD expansion slot. It is the only gateway in the range built to live outside a rack, and one of only two that publishes a temperature rating at all.

Three of those rows say “Conditional — see below” and that is the important part of this page. Read the next section before you use any budget figure for a USW-Ultra, USW-Ultra-210W or USW-Flex-2.5G-8-PoE.
The conditional-PoE budgets — read this before you size anything
This is the single most misleading number in the UniFi catalogue.
Some UniFi devices do not publish a single PoE budget. They publish a table keyed to the input source. Quoted flat, the headline figure produces designs that cannot deliver power.
A previous version of this wiki stated “USW-Ultra-210W = 202W PoE budget.” That was wrong, and it was wrong in the dangerous direction — it makes the switch look bigger than it is. The 202W figure is real. It is also conditional. Both halves have to be said together or the sentence is a lie by omission.
Every conditional-budget device in the catalogue
There are five, and they are not all switches — which is exactly why this trap keeps catching people. Two of them live outside the switching section entirely.

Read the spread. The USW-Ultra swings 202W to 16W — a factor of twelve and a half — on the same silicon, depending only on what you plug into it. Any of these quoted as a single number is quoted wrong.

The difference between the two SKUs is the box contents, not the switch.

A design that assumes 202W from a plain USW-Ultra is broken. Without the adapter it is a 42W switch at best. At 16W on PoE+ input it will not run two G6 Turrets.
And a ceiling that no adapter fixes. Both are PoE+ output max, 30W per port (poe_standards_supported: "Up to PoE+"). Neither can power a PoE++ device at any budget, ever. That rules out:
- UA-Hub-Door and UA-Hub-Door-Mini (50W, PoE++)
- UA-Hub-Gate (60W, PoE++)
- AI Multi Sensor 4 (34.6W, PoE++)
- AI PTZ Industrial (51W, PoE++)
- E7 / E7 Campus / E7 Audience / U7 Pro XGS access points (29–51W, PoE++)
Also note the port count. 8 ports, but only 7 are PoE. The eighth is the PoE++ input.
USW-Flex-2.5G-8-PoE — same pattern, different numbers

The AC/DC adapter is EXCLUDED, exactly like the plain USW-Ultra. Same trap. The difference is that its ports are PoE++ capable (64W per port), across 8 × 2.5GbE, plus a 10GbE PoE+++ uplink. So unlike the Ultra family it can power a door hub — if you have bought it an adapter.
UDB-Switch — a conditional switch that isn’t filed under switches
The Device Bridge Switch is a compact 8-port PoE+ switch with a Wi-Fi 7 bridging uplink. Ubiquiti files it under integrations, not switching, so it is easy to miss — but it has exactly the same conditional budget behaviour.

Its adapter (54V DC/1.1A) is included, unlike the plain USW-Ultra. But note what the table does not contain: there is no PoE-input row at all. This device is DC-powered, and the two published figures are both adapter figures. 185W on the 210W adapter; 35W on the 60W one.
Ports are PoE+ at 30W max — so, like the USW-Ultra family, it cannot power a PoE++ device at any budget. No door hubs, no AI Multi Sensor 4, no E7. It also requires UniFi Network 10.0.156 or later, and it is rated −30 to 40 °C.
UCG-Industrial — the conditional gateway
The only gateway with a conditional budget, and the numbers are large enough to matter.

270W on the included 350W DC adapter, 75W on ATX power. That is a 3.6× swing, and 270W is more PoE than most rack switches in this catalogue. Its per-port ceiling is PoE+: 30W; PoE+++: 90W — so unlike every USW-Ultra, this box can power a UA-Hub-Gate, an AI PTZ Industrial or an E7 directly.
Fanless, ruggedized, −30 to 50 °C, wall-mounted or on the included table stand (a rack-mount accessory is sold separately — it is not DIN-rail mountable), with a 128 GB microSD recording cameras. For a cold outbuilding with a handful of PoE++ devices, this is a genuinely different answer from “gateway plus switch” — and the 75W ATX figure is the one that will catch someone who racks it.
The rack switches — clean single budgets
These publish one number and mean it. USW-Pro-24-PoE’s 400W is confirmed against techspecs firsthand.

Everything else is transcribed from the spec file and has not been re-checked against the live page in this pass.
Zero-PoE traps
- USW-Flex-Mini — 5 ports, no PoE output. It is PoE-powered, not PoE-sourcing. People buy this to power a camera. It cannot.
- USW-Pro-XG-48-PoE — 48 PoE ports, PoE+++ capable, and no published total PoE budget. We cannot tell you what it delivers in aggregate and will not guess.
- The non-PoE Pro Max and Pro XG models (USW-Pro-Max-16/24/48, USW-Pro-XG-24/48, USW-Pro-XG-Aggregation) do exactly what the name says: switching, no power.
Bridging, 5G and connectivity
8 devices Ubiquiti files outside the gateway and switch sections, added to the spec set on 2026-07-17. They matter here because two of them carry PoE and one of them is a switch.

- UDB-Pro — a point-to-point wireless bridge, 5 km range, 9W, rated −40 to 60 °C, IPX6, with a published wind loading of 69 N at 200 km/h. It has a passive PoE output and needs PoE+ input to use it. This is how you get a link to an outbuilding without a trench.
- U5G-Max-Outdoor — a 5G modem rated −40 to 65 °C, IPX6 (IP67 with the cable-gland door kit), with a 91 N at 200 km/h wind loading. The widest temperature range of any product in this catalogue.
Note the contrast with the indoor 5G units. U5G and U5G-Max are rated 0 to 40 °C — no sub-zero rating at all — while the outdoor variant is rated to −40 °C. Same trap as the door hub versus the gate hub: Ubiquiti builds an indoor product and an outdoor product and the only place it says so is the temperature row.
The only radio data Ubiquiti publishes
This is worth flagging. Ubiquiti publishes no radio data for any access point — no antenna gain, no TX power, no spatial streams. But for the bridging devices it publishes all of it:

So the data exists and Ubiquiti knows how to publish it. It simply isn’t published for the products most people are choosing between. That is a decision, not an oversight, and it is why AP selection is a site survey rather than a spec comparison.
Standing rules for this catalogue
- A budget without an input source is not a number. For USW-Ultra, USW-Ultra-210W, USW-Flex-2.5G-8-PoE, UDB-Switch and UCG-Industrial, always state both.
- Port class first, watts second, port count third. A PoE+ switch cannot power a PoE++ device however much headroom it has.
- Budget against the maximum draw, not typical draw.
- Never invent a PoE figure. If techspecs doesn’t publish it, the answer is “not published by Ubiquiti”.
- On someone else’s switch you have no budget — you have a question. PoE headroom on third-party infrastructure is unverifiable unless their IT confirms it in writing. Design around it: bring your own PoE switch.
