A clinic network has to cope with a full waiting room. It has to carry an imaging sensor part way through a capture. It has to keep the practice management server up, because nobody can afford that to blink. And the guest Wi-Fi must not be able to see any of it. Those are design choices, and they cost very little to make before the drywall closes.

One flat network
Front desk, sensors, guest Wi-Fi and the server all on the same wire, able to reach each other. This is the most common problem we are called in to fix, and the most important.
Dead spots in the wrong room
Lead-lined walls, pipe runs and long corridors all block signal. The number of access points comes from how the building is built, not from floor area. Guess it from floor area and you get dead spots.
A fit-out on a deadline
New suite, opening date fixed, and low voltage remembered late. Cable routes and drop counts cost far less on paper than in a closed ceiling.
A vendor who left no documentation
Nobody knows what is plugged into which port. An audit and a labelled rack end that for good.
Alberta’s rules, and HIPAA when it applies.
An Alberta clinic is bound by the Health Information Act, with PIPEDA federally. A US practice, or a Canadian one holding records for American patients, answers to HIPAA. We work to either, and we will tell you which one you are in. It is worth knowing which rules bind you before you pay to meet the wrong ones.
No network is compliant on its own
Compliance is your policies, your training, your records handling and your agreements. The network is one control among several. What we build is the technical part, built so it stands up and documented so you can show someone how it works. More on the compliance side.

- At design stage we list the rooms that cannot go offline during clinic hours, then work around them.
- Where the switchover has to happen in the evening or at the weekend, we plan it in. It is not charged to you as a surprise.
- Cameras cover entrances, dispensary and back door. Never treatment rooms, and never anywhere one can read a screen.
- The system logs every door event, so you can produce a record instead of a recollection.
- We test every run and hand you the report for each drop.
