Drives, a port and a plan for backups.
Hard drives
It ships empty. We fit NAS rated drives sized to what you keep. Two drives mirror, four or more give you RAID 5 or 6.
A network port
The desktop models run off a PoE port on your switch. The Pro models plug into the wall and a 10G port. See switches.
A second copy somewhere
A NAS is not a backup by itself. UniFi Drive can copy to another UNAS, to a cloud bucket, or to a USB drive. We set that up on day one.
Common questions.
Is a UNAS the same as a recorder?
No. A UNAS runs UniFi Drive for files. A recorder runs Protect for cameras. They look alike but do different jobs.
Does it back up my Mac or PC?
Yes. Time Machine for Macs, SMB shares for Windows. We set it up.
Do drives come with it?
No. We supply NAS rated drives and build the RAID.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. Your files sit on drives you own. Cloud backup is optional and uses your own account.
