Emergency Network and Fibre Repair
Something is cut, and it cannot wait
A machine went through a line. A conduit got crushed. A splice failed. The building is dark, or the site is down, and every hour it stays that way costs something.
Call. (587) 858-4888. That is the fastest route and it is the right one at 2am.
What can be dealt with
- Cut or damaged fibre, spliced and tested on site
- Fibre testing, to find where the fault actually is rather than guessing at it
- Damaged copper and network cable, repaired or re-run
- A network that is down and nobody can say why
- Damage during construction, when something was hit that nobody knew was there
Fibre is the one worth calling about specifically. Splicing it takes equipment and practice, and not everyone who runs cable can do it. It is a core part of the day job here, not an occasional favour. More detail on the planned side of that work: Fibre Splicing and OTDR Testing.
How it works
- You call. Describe what happened and what is down.
- You get an honest answer on the phone, including if this is something you can sort yourself, or if somebody else is a better call at this hour.
- If it is a callout, the terms are agreed before anyone gets in the van. No surprise invoice afterwards.
- Attend, diagnose, fix or make safe. Fibre gets tested after splicing, not just spliced and hoped for.
- You get told what actually happened, and what would stop it happening again.
What it costs
Stated plainly, so nobody is doing sums at midnight.
- $300 to attend, and the first hour is included in that. You are paying for an hour of actual work, not just for the van arriving.
- $150 per hour after the first hour.
- Materials are extra, and a repair depends on the right parts being available. If something has to be ordered, you will be told on the phone rather than after.
Non-emergency work during normal hours is charged at a lower rate. If it can wait, it should, and it will cost you less.
When it is not an emergency
Worth saying, because it saves you money.
If it can wait until the morning, it should. Slow wifi, a camera that stopped, a device that needs reconfiguring, none of these are emergencies and none of them are cheaper at midnight. Call during normal hours and it is ordinary work at ordinary rates.
Normal hours are Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm, and ordinary repair work in those hours starts at $100 per hour rather than the emergency rate.
Area covered
24/7 emergency callout is Calgary.
Regular work covers a wider area: Calgary, Okotoks, Airdrie, Cochrane and Chestermere. Outside Calgary, call during normal hours.
Homes and businesses, both
There is no separate track. A cut fibre at a business and a dead network in a house are the same call, priced the same way.
