A pharmacy carries three problems an office does not: controlled substances that need a record rather than a recollection, a cold chain that fails silently, and patient information that must not share a network with anything else. We can solve all three at the design stage.
What actually needs engineering.
Controlled access, logged
Doors to the compounding room and the controlled storage on access control, with every open recorded against a credential. You get a record you can produce. Not a sign-in sheet you hope someone filled in.
Cold chain that tells you
We put sensors on the fridges and in the clean room. They alert you the moment a temperature drifts. You do not wait for someone to notice in the morning.
Segmented patient data
We put the dispensing system, staff devices, cameras and any public Wi-Fi on separate VLANs. A VLAN keeps each group in its own lane on the same wires. We set the rules for what may cross between them.
Alberta’s Health Information Act applies to a pharmacy’s health information, with PIPEDA federally. No network is compliant on its own. What we build is the technical part, documented so you can show someone how it works.
Coverage where it earns its place.
- Dispensary, controlled storage, receiving door and the till.
- We aim each camera so it cannot read a label, a screen or a patient’s paperwork.
- We record in your building. You own the footage and pay no monthly fee to watch it.
- Retention sized deliberately, because keeping footage longer than you need is its own liability.
- Cameras sit on their own segment. They never share a flat network with dispensing. A flat network is one where every device can reach every other device.
Before you ask.
Can the sensors alert a phone at night?
Yes. A fridge drifting at 2am is the reason they exist. The alert goes to whoever you choose. It does not sit on a screen nobody is watching.
Will this satisfy our regulator?
We will not tell you it does. Your college sets the requirements and your policies meet them. We build the technical controls and document them so you can demonstrate what is in place.
Can we keep our dispensing software vendor?
Yes. We secure the network it runs on. We work with your vendor on what the software needs. We do not touch the software or the records.
Can it be installed without closing?
Yes. We work around your hours. The switch over usually takes one evening.
