UniFi audio splits into two jobs. Protect speakers talk back at the camera line: a warning to someone in the yard, a chime at the door. Play and the AV bridge move music and video around a building. This page shows all four boxes and which job each does.

AI Horn Speaker

For the speakers, a Protect console
The AI Speaker and AI Horn are Protect devices. They pair to the same console as the cameras and fire on camera events. See recorders.
For music, passive speakers and the Play app
The PowerAmp drives normal wired speakers, two per amp. Zones are built in the Play app. No console needed, but it plays nicer on a UniFi network.
For video, one bridge per end
The AV Bridge sends HDMI over the network. One at the source, one at each screen. A 2.5G or 10G switch keeps 4K smooth. See switches.
Common questions.
Can the horn speaker play a recorded message?
Yes. Protect plays a clip when a camera rule fires, or you can talk through it live from the app.
Is Play a subscription?
The amp is not. Spotify and Soundtrack Your Brand are their own accounts. Soundtrack is the one licensed for a business.
Can I use my own speakers with the PowerAmp?
Yes. Any passive 4 or 8 ohm pair. We can supply and mount them.
Does the AV Bridge do audio only?
It can. Two XLR in, two XLR out. A mic at the front desk can page every screen.
