Line of sight
Radio does not go through trees, hills or buildings. The two ends must see each other. 60 GHz bridges need a clean line; 5 GHz forgives a little.
Two units, usually
A point to point link is a pair. One at each end, aimed at each other. The Sector model talks to many Device Bridge Pros at once.
PoE at each end
Every bridge runs on PoE. The adapter is in the box, or use a PoE port on a switch. See switches.
Common questions.
How far can a bridge reach?
Device Bridge Pro, about 5 km. Building Bridge, about 500 m. Both need a clear line of sight, so trees and roof lines matter more than distance.
Does snow knock it out?
Heavy snow or rain can slow a 60 GHz link. The Building Bridge falls back to 5 GHz and keeps the link up. 5 GHz bridges shrug it off.
Can I put a camera on the far end?
Yes. The Device Bridge Pro has a PoE out port. A camera on a pole with no cable back is a common job for us.
Do I need two?
For point to point, yes, one at each end. The Device Bridge and Device Bridge Switch link to your existing Wi-Fi, so they work alone.
