A mechanical connector, which clamps two fibre ends together, plus a hopeful look, is not a repair. A fusion splice with the light loss measured and written down is. If the run matters, the difference shows up on the first cold night.

Three things, done to a number.
Fusion splicing
Single mode and multimode fibre, in an enclosure, a hand hole, a vault or a rack. We cut, melt and protect each joint so the join is not the weak point.
OTDR fault location
An OTDR trace tells you how far along the run the break sits. That turns a guess about where to dig into one hole in one place.
Optical loss testing
We measure the light power and the loss from end to end after the work, and we write the reading down. You get the number, not a promise.
Usually one of these.
- A contractor found the duct with a machine and the building went dark.
- A splice enclosure filled with water over a winter and the loss crept up until it failed.
- A link between two buildings that has got worse over time, and nobody has ever measured it.
- A new run that needs terminating and certifying before anyone will sign off on it.
- A carrier saying the fault is on your side, and you needing evidence either way.
Before you ask.
Can you tell where the break is before digging?
Usually to within a metre or two, using an OTDR trace from one end. That is often the difference between digging one hole and digging three.
Do you work with our carrier?
Yes. If the fault turns out to be on their side, we give you the trace and the readings. That is often what gets the carrier to act.
Single mode or multimode?
Both. Which one belongs on a run is a design choice about distance and what the run has to carry. It is worth getting right before any cable is pulled.
How fast can you respond to an outage?
Call us. We will give you a real answer based on where you are and what we already have running, not a comfortable one you then have to plan around.
